David McAllister serves as the pastor of the Gateway Christian Church in Los Angeles, California (www.gatewaydisciples.org). A life-long member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), he embraces the denomination’s statement that, “We are a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world.” In more than twenty-five years of ministry at Gateway, he has seen that statement lived out in amazing ways.
The arts have an important place in David’s life and ministry. His doctoral work was in the area of arts and theology, and he was awarded a Doctor of Ministry degree in that area by Wesley Theological Seminary in 2008. He seeks ways to have the church engage the arts in both worship and educational settings.
David served in an ecumenical setting earlier in his career, working first as a nursing home chaplain and then as the Executive Director of the Westside Ecumenical Conference. He continues to value highly the gifts that we can offer to one another, both across Christian traditions and in interfaith encounters.
David and his wife, Helen, live in Santa Monica, California. They enjoy sharing together in ministry at Gateway.
